Rickie Fowler spun a 3-under-par 36-31=67 in today's third round of the TOUR Championship for a 54-hole aggregate of 4-under 206, up five places on the leaderboard.
Fowler was T4 after 54 holes in last year's Playoffs finale (three back), eventually settling for solo eighth following a 1-over 71 in the final round. He'll enter championship Sunday T3, in the penultimate pairing with Paul Casey, and four back of 54-hole leader Jordan Spieth. On Saturday, Fowler bobbed and weaved in a sloppy first half, overshadowing birdies at the par-4 third and seventh (from 21'10"), respectively, with bogeys at Nos. 1, 5 and 9 after missing each green in regulation. After the break, the 26-year-old went blemish-free, circling birdies at 11 (from 36'4"), 12, 15 and 18, the latter a walk-off from 14'8" to vault into contention. His 67 was low round of the day in the field of 28. Each of Fowler's three career TOUR titles have been come-from-behind, including two Playoffs events ago at the Deutche Bank. Sep 26 - 4:35 PM
