World No. 9 Rickie Fowler fired a 7-under-par 35-30=65 on Moving Day at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to reach 5-under 211, up 49 places on the live leaderboard to T9 and good for the low round of the week thus far. UPDATE: With play completed, Fowler is T11, six back of 54-hole co-leaders Kevin Kisner and Charley Hoffman.
This is the 28-year-old's sixth API with one top 25, a T3 in 2013. At the 2013 edition, he was T2 thru 54 holes (73-67-67), two back of leader Tiger Woods, closing in 1-over 73, five back of eventual champ Woods, his 77th PGA TOUR title (of 79) and eighth at Arnie's Invite. Today's 65 for the Jupiter, Florida, resident is his low at Bay Hill in 21 tries, eclipsing the above-mentioned 67s. After opening in 74-72, he began on 2-over (T58), one inside the cut line and 12 adrift of 36-hole leader Charley Hoffman. Fowler doubled the par-4 third (tee ball in the water) but then played his final 15 holes in blemish-free 9-under, circling nine birdies and an eagle-3 at 16 (from 13'10") that completed his scoring. He striped 12 (of 14) fairways and hit 14 greens in regulation, posting 3.545 SG: Putting and 28 putts total. Three of Fowler's circles were between nine and 30 feet and also dropped a 17-foot par-saver on the par-3 seventh. Mar 18 - 1:48 PM
