Italy and Francesco Molinari will be looking for a second World Cup of Golf title at Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia this week.
There are plenty of hot golfers around the world currently and Molinari, winner of this event with his brother Edoardo in 2009, is right up there with the best. Since missing the weekend at The Barclays he underwent some coaching and has since notched 1-T6-T4-T4 with not one round worse than 70 in 16 laps, 12 of them sub-70. Toss in a T8 in this event at Royal Melbourne in 2013 (with an odd series of 75-67-66-75) and he looks set for another good week. The key for team success is exactly how Matteo Manassero is playing. That week in 2013 saw the youngster (for amazingly he is still just 23) log 76-74-76-74 for T58, ending hopes in the team event. Manassero is not so bad playing in fast conditions with his long game (his victory in the BMW PGA Championship somewhat backs this up, his third in the Scottish Open this year too), but quick greens will test his currently very fragile putting stroke (he's averaged less than 30 putts per round just four times in 2016).
