Scott Langley spun a career-tying-low 8-under-par 29-33=62 in the third round of the Wyndham Championship to post 11-under 199, up 55 spots to T2 and good for the early 54-hole clubhouse lead. UPDATE: With play completed, Langley is T10, seven in arrears to 54-hole leader Si Woo Kim.
The 27-year-old was one of 20 that made the cut on the number after opening his fourth Wyndham in 67-70=137. He landed eight (of 14) fairways and just 12 greens in regulation, but posted a stellar 1.333 putts per GIR and 3.837 in SG: Putting. The University of Illinois alum, who entered the week No. 175 in the FedExCup standings, circled four birdies and an eagle en route to a first-half 29, highlighted by a run of birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie on holes 4-7. He made a 6'6" come-backer for par on 10 before squaring a lone bogey at the par-4 11th (failed scramble), and added further birdies at 13, 15 and 18. Langley's split featured five conversions from inside of 10 feet and three from between 15 and 18 feet. He's shot 62 two other times (343 career rounds), most recently at the 2015 Greenbrier/R1.
