Morgan Hoffmann enjoyed a bogey-free, 6-under-par 33-31=64 in his opening round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
Fresh off a career-best finish on the PGA TOUR, the rookie picked up where he left off en route to a T5 at TPC Four Seasons last week. He went 6-for-6 in scrambling with six birdies at Colonial today. His set included a hole-out from a greenside bunker at the par-4 14th hole. Despite that highlight, it didn't contribute to his field-leading strokes gained-putting split that was north of 4.675 at the time he signed his card. Hoffmann's most impressive conversion on the greens measured 48'10" at the eighth hole, but he also poured in birdies from 10'11" at 11 and 10'7" at 12.
