John Peterson has been added to the published field of this week's Wells Fargo Championship.
This merely confirms what Peterson acknowledged on Twitter last night, which we relayed to you at the time. He earned his way into the field at Quail Hollow by virtue of his top 10 in New Orleans (T8). He's now accumulated 82 non-member FedExCup points. That would slot him T164 among all golfers. Those finishing 126-200, including non-members, are exempt into the Web.com Tour Finals. After the WFC, Peterson is already booked for starts at Colonial and the U.S. Open.

John Peterson polished off a big week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a 5-under-par 36-31=67 and could have a decision to make as to where he plays later this week.
Peterson played this week in his home state on a sponsor exemption, and his 13-under 275 final tally has a shot of hanging on for a top 10. He reached that number with birdies on each of his last three holes. We reported earlier this week that he would focus his efforts on the Web.com Tour after this week as a means to earning a 2013-2014 TOUR card, but a top 10 this week would earn him entry into the Wells Fargo Championship. Stayed tuned to see if he changes his plans.

In an interview on "Talk of the TOUR" today, John Peterson acknowledged that he'll be exhausting his opportunities to secure a 2013-14 PGA TOUR card via the Web.com Tour.
"I’m going to play [the Zurich Classic of New Orleans] because it’s my home town. I love the people around here," said Peterson, who played collegiately at Louisiana State University and received a sponsor exemption into this week's PGA TOUR stop. "But for the rest of the year, I have to focus my time on the Web.com Tour just because you’ve got to get your [PGA TOUR] card, and that’s my best way to do it this year, barring a win or a top three here this week." As we relayed last Thursday, Peterson also has an exemption into the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on May 23-26, and he's already in the U.S. Open, but gamers can't rely on other appearances via sponsor exemptions, top 10s and open qualifying. Ride his game when you can, but keep him on a short leash.

The PGA TOUR non-member finished second-to-last of the 61 that cashed at last week's Masters. He's also exempt into the U.S. Open and informed our Rob Bolton on Twitter that he'll tee it up at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in late May, adding that he "grew up on the course." Peterson doesn't have any long-range value but he could be a cheap, dynamic investment when he plays.
