Sponsor invite and World No. 441 Henrik Norlander painted a bogey-free 5-under-par 32-33=65 in the final round of The RSM Classic to match four others on 17-under 265, and then was eliminated on the third hole of sudden death by champion Mackenzie Hughes, who was the first- second- and third-round leader.
The Swede, who lives in Augusta, Georgia, began the finale in a three-way T9 on 12-under, four back of Hughes. Playing out of the fourth-to-last threesome, he landed 12 (of 14) fairways and 14 greens in regulation, circling five birdies, including a walk-off 3 at the 18th, tying the low lap of the day with three others. In the playoff, which extended into Monday, the 29-year-old bunkered his tee shot to the par-3 17th and missed a par-saver from eight feet, while Hughes made par from the fringe. Making his 45th career start and first start of the season, he posted rounds of 67-66-66-65 and his P2 is a career best, previously T15 at the 2013 Zurich Classic. Norlander's top 10 will get him an exemption into the 2017 Sony Open. Nov 21 - 9:25 AM
