Mike Weir will give it a go in his 11th HP Byron Nelson Championship this week.
Weir's 2013 has been a major struggle, with his T73 at the Wells Fargo his first payday since Pebble Beach in February. At 190th in ball-striking, there's way too much pressure on his short game and putting to be a factor. He's got three top 25s on his resume at TPC Four Seasons, but has not cracked a top 10.

Mike Weir has been removed from the published field of this week's RBC Heritage.
Weir missed the cut at the Masters by three strokes at 7-over-par 72-79=151. He admitted that he wouldn't have played last week if it weren't the Masters. In his latest
blog entry
, he wrote: "I'm scheduled to play at the RBC Heritage next week, a tournament I really enjoy. But I'll see what the doctor says and then do what's best for getting healthy again. I'm glad I played at Augusta and I don't think my ribs are any worse than they were before I came here." Continue to omit the lefty from all lineups that reward good play.

Mike Weir signed for an even-par 38-34=72 following his opening round of the Masters.
Well, this is much better than expected given his comments early in the week. Playing with a rib injury that prevented him from taking full swings until Monday, Weir hit 15 greens and canceled three bogeys with three birdies. He totaled 33 putts.

Mike Weir is going to tee it up in his opening round of the Masters on Thursday.
Weir hasn't updated his website since Tuesday's entry, but he was interviewed by
The Vancouver Sun
. "I’m going to give it a shot," he said, referring to his decision to play while a rib injury. "It didn’t seem to get any worse out there, and that’s kind of my barometer, so ... The worst case is I just get back to where I was at Bay Hill, which is not a good scenario. The good thing is, there’s no heavy rough [at Augusta National Golf Club] so I don’t really have to go down after anything. It seems to be when I’m bent over a little more with the wedge, it gets me a little more. But you know what, it seems fine." Even though he's fully exempt, he doesn't deserve a spot on fantasy rosters until he proves that he's healthy and making cuts. This is obvious to veteran gamers, but the newer among us often rely too much on cachet and pedigree. You've been warned.
