J.J. Henry and Tom Hoge penciled a 3-under-par 34-35=69 during round one of the Zurich Classic, throwing their name into the mix early with best ball on deck in round two.
Playing alternate shot today, the duo opened the week with a 7'6" birdie splash at the par-4 first hole. That would end up to be the only putt converted from outside six feet today. Despite the cold puttersz, this TCU tandem still manage to score, thanks to good iron play. They set up seven birdie-or-better looks from inside 10 feet. Entering the week, Henry had a T5 on his TPC Louisiana resume but also finished outside the top 50 in all nine of his other visits. Hoge, on the other hand, is previously 0-for-2 here. Their ball-striking on day one is a promising sign, but they'll need to heat up the putters as they turn their attention to the best-ball format on Friday. Apr 27 - 2:08 PM
