Ryan Palmer tacked on a 5-under-par 31-34=65 in the third round of The Barclays to post 9-under 201, two swings back of 54-hole, co-leaders Sangmoon Bae and Jason Day.
Palmer began the day at 4-under (T8) and three strokes off the pace. Thru his first 13 holes, he was bogey-free, 6-under, circling birdies at Nos. 4, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 13. His early split included four conversions from inside seven feet, a 15-footer at the par-4 13th, and a hole-out from just short of the green at the par-4 ninth. Beginning at the 14th, he played his last five holes in 1-over, outpacing one final birdie at the 15th with bogeys at 14 and 16, both the result of missed greens, two of four on the day in that category. At the 14th, he missed par from 5'2" and also missed scoring chances at 17 and 18 from 8'1" and 5'2", respectively. Palmer will be in the penultimate pairing on Sunday with 36-hole leader Bubba Watson. His last of three wins on the PGA TOUR came in 2010 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Aug 29 - 5:57 PM
