Playing this season on a Major Medical Extension, World No. 424 Nick Watney crafted a 5-under-par 33-32=65 in the final round of The Honda Classic to reach 4-under 276, up 43 spots to T16 with play still in progress.
This was the 35-year-old's fifth appearance and improves to 5-for-5. He's right on his previous-best finish of T17 in 2005, across PGA Blvd. at the CC of Mirasol (Sunset). After kicking off in 71-67-73, he began buried down the leaderboard on 1-over (T59), but got back into the red for the week with seven birdies on 12 (of 14) fairways and 13 greens in regulation. The Fresno State alum squared bogeys at 2 and 15, both after water balls, but camouflaged them with circles on holes 1 (from 13'2"), 5 (23'7"), 8, 10 (pitch in from 48'4"), 11, 13 and 14, posting 1.538 putts per GIR and 3.927 SG: Putting. This was his seventh start of the season and second top 25, joining a T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Feb 26 - 3:34 PM
