Although the three-peat proved beyond him, Stephen Gallacher's love affair with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic continued as he finished solo third.
The Scot shot a closing 3-under-par 35-34=69 on Sunday to finish at 16-under 272 -- six shots behind winner Rory McIlroy. Gallacher had a sticky start with a bogey at the first hole followed by five straight pars. He birdied six to be out in 35 before making a move with a trio of birdies at 11, 12 and 13. A bogey at 14 halted Gallacher's surge but a birdie two at 17 was enough to secure a third straight top three in this event after wins in 2013 and 2014 and a second place in 2012. The Emirates' undoubted course horse hit only 11 greens in regulation on Sunday but was 5-for-7 in scrambling. Feb 1 - 8:15 AM
