Carlos Beltran is again in the Cardinals' lineup Saturday.
Beltran's troublesome right knee and foot felt fine during and after Friday's loss in San Francisco, so the Cards are giving him another go. The 35-year-old right fielder should get regular days off all season but is an obvious must-start in fantasy leagues when active.

Carlos Beltran (knee) reported no setbacks following Friday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.
"In the first couple innings I was kind of stiff, being out there standing for a long time. But [there was] no pain," Beltran said. The Cardinals are expected to re-evaluate Beltran on Saturday to see if he can make a second straight start. His status is considered day-to-day.

Carlos Beltran (knee) is back in the Cardinals' lineup Friday.
Beltran had been out since Monday with right knee and foot soreness. He should still be considered day-to-day given his history with injuries and the Cardinals' strategy of giving regular rest to their veterans.

Carlos Beltran popped out as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning of Thursday's game.
Beltran missed a fourth straight start due to a sore knee and foot. That he was able to pinch-hit today suggests that he'll return to the lineup sometime this weekend.

Lance Berkman
D.L.
Lance Berkman indicated Monday that he still thinks there could be some damage to the ACL in his right knee.
An MRI on Monday showed no evidence of an ACL tear, but Berkman said he is "not as optimistic" as the team. We should have more clarity on the situation after he gets a second opinion later this week. Berkman has a torn meniscus at the very least, which is expected to keep him out of action for 6-8 weeks. Stay tuned.

Matt Carpenter
Sidelined
Matt Carpenter is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his tight right side Wednesday morning.
Carpenter was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Padres after tweaking his right oblique muscle on a first-inning double. He told reporters after the 4-0 victory that he didn't think it was torn, but the MRI will provide the true diagnosis. Carpenter was filling in at third base Tuesday for the struggling David Freese.

Jon Jay's (shoulder) rehab work has been limited to physical therapy thus far.
The outfielder has yet to resume any baseball-related activities and wouldn't offer an estimate on when he'll return. He's eligible for activation on May 30, but it doesn't sound like he'll be ready at that point unless he sees a major improvement soon.

D.L.
Cardinals placed 1B/OF Allen Craig on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17, with a strained left hamstring.
As expected. Craig downplayed the injury as a day-to-day situation at first, but it's apparently more serious than initially believed. It's a tough break for the Cardinals and fantasy owners alike, as the 27-year-old is hitting .373/.424/.765 with five homers, 19 RBI and a 1.188 OPS through 59 plate appearances this season.

D.L.
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak told FOX Sports Midwest on Saturday that Chris Carpenter (neck, shoulder) could start a throwing program in mid-June.
Carpenter has been progressing well through a series of strengthening exercises and should be ready to take the next step in about a month. He'll still need 4-6 weeks from the time he first begins throwing, so it's looking like a late-July return is the best case scenario. The good news is Lance Lynn has excelled as a fill-in.

Kyle McClellan (elbow) won't throw for 6-8 weeks.
McClellan was told this week by Dr. James Andrews that he does not need a second Tommy John reconstructive elbow procedure, but that doesn't mean the right-hander is guaranteed to return this year. He's been diagnosed with a strained flexor pronator and a small tear of his UCL. It's going to be a long road of rehab.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) is currently playing catch from a distance of 90 feet.
Linebrink will stretch it out to 120 feet before throwing off flat ground. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off a mound by the Cardinals' current seven-game homestand. The veteran right-hander has been on the disabled list all season with right shoulder capsulitis.
