Hector Gomez of Listin Diario in the Dominican Republic reports that Alfonso Soriano has announced his retirement from baseball.
Soriano, 38, was released by the Yankees in July and wound up taking the rest of the year off. Now, he's decided to hang up his cleats for good. It's the end of what has been a terrific career, as Soriano batted .270/.319/.500 with 412 home runs and 1,159 RBI across 16 seasons. He was a seven-time All-Star and is the most recent player (and one of only four ever) to have a 40/40 season. Nov 4 - 8:58 PM
