Lyle Overbay went 4-for-4 with a homer and a double against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
More bad news for Paul Goldschmidt owners. Overbay has driven in a total of three runs in 50 at-bats since his big game on Opening Day, but he is hitting .370 for the year now. With the Diamondbacks looking to cut back on the strikeouts -- rightly or wrongly -- Overbay could be in line for more playing time.

Lyle Overbay went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 setback to the Cardinals.
With Paul Goldschmidt batting .218, manager Kirk Gibson turned to the veteran. Overbay is batting .333 with a home run in 42 at-bats, and should continue to be a useful safety valve for the Diamondbacks if Goldschmidt continues to struggle.

Lyle Overbay started ahead of Paul Goldschmidt in a second straight game Wednesday, but he went 0-for-4 in the 2-1 loss to the Pirates.
Let's hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Overbay went 3-for-4 with a homer in his first start of the season, but he's just 1-for-14 since. The Diamondbacks shouldn't be using him over Goldschmidt.

Lyle Overbay homered and doubled twice in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Overbay finished his day 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Obviously a huge afternoon, but Overbay is going to need Paul Goldschmidt to struggle to become an asset in NL-only leagues.

Stephen Drew (ankle) will play in one or two extended spring training games before beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno.
The D'Backs had hoped that Drew could start a rehab assignment Sunday, but he's dealing with a bit of soreness in his surgically-repaired ankle and the team doesn't want to push the envelope. Assuming he does indeed begin playing for Reno soon, Drew should be ready to rejoin the big club in early June.

Diamondbacks transferred INF Geoff Blum from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Blum has been out since the middle of April because of a torn oblique muscle, and can now be ruled out for all of May. The veteran infielder opened the year 1-for-11.

Hudson allowed two runs over five innings Monday night in a rehab start at Triple-A Reno and was given clearance to return to the major leagues on Tuesday afternoon. The 24-year-old right-hander has been on the disabled list since April 19 with a right shoulder impingement. He should be activated in all fantasy leagues this weekend.

Takashi Saito threw a 21-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, his first since aggravating his right calf injury back on April 20.
It was clearly a pretty significant aggravation since he didn't get on a mound again for three and a half weeks. The D'Backs haven't offered a timetable on Saito, but he'll likely need a handful of successful bullpen sessions before being sent on a rehab assignment.
