Colby Lewis narrowly missed a shutout in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Astros, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings of work.
He struck out six, and also managed to go 2-for-4 with two RBI at the plate. Lewis came out to take a shot at a shutout in the ninth, but was yanked after serving up a leadoff home run to Jed Lowrie. It was a much needed outing for Texas' No. 2 (or is it No. 3?) starter after he allowed at least six runs in each of his past three outings. He'll bring a 3.30 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 53/9 K/BB ratio into his weekend start against the Blue Jays at home.

Colby Lewis didn't help his own cause on Tuesday, committing two errors that led to five unearned runs in a loss to the Royals.
He allowed seven runs (two earned) on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. Lewis also struck out four and walked two in the game. With the loss, he falls to 3-3 on the season. He'll try to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Astros in Houston on Tuesday.

Colby Lewis gave up a career-high five homers and struck out a career-high 12 batters over seven innings Thursday in a loss to the Orioles.
It was a unique outing for Lewis. After allowing three straight homers to start the bottom of the first, he retired 18 in a row, only to give up two more homers in the seventh. Those five homers were the only five hits he gave up, and he was just the fifth pitcher in big-league history to allow five homers without allowing any other hits. Also, his 12 strikeouts were three more than any pitcher had ever had in a five-HR game. With one walk and six runs allowed, his WHIP dropped from 1.14 to 1.10 today, while his ERA jumped from 2.97 to 3.69.

Wednesday's game between the Rangers and Orioles has been postponed due to rain.
They'll play a doubleheader Thursday, with scheduled starters Colby Lewis and Wei-Yin Chen being pushed back a day to start Game 1. Derek Holland and Tommy Hunter will pitch Game 2.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Neftali Feliz has an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right elbow.
His injury had been described just as inflammation. It's always concerning when the UCL is involved, but evidently Feliz's ligament isn't bad enough to require surgery. He'll be shut down for at least a month and isn't expected to return to the Rangers until after the All-Star break. Daniels also mentioned that it's possible Feliz's role could change upon his return.
