Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow shot down the possibility of a Miguel Cabrera trade.
Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported Wednesday that the Astros are planning an offseason pursuit of Miguel Cabrera (via trade) or Edwin Encarnacion (through free agency), but the Cabrera part seems to have been based off very little actual substance. "I was asked, 'Would we consider a trade for a Hall of Fame-caliber first baseman', and (replied) 'we're considering everything,'" Luhnow told the Houston Chronicle. "I think the media kind of ran with that." Cabrera turns 34 years old next April and is still owed $212 million guaranteed on a contract that could potentially run through 2025. He continues to mash even as time takes its usual toll, but it'll be a chore to get him out of Detroit -- on all ends. Miggy holds a full no-trade clause. Nov 10 - 8:57 AM
