Jered Weaver held the Padres to two runs and three hits in seven innings to win Friday.
Weaver rebounded well from his poor outing against the Rangers and improved to 6-1 on the season. He wasn't at his most dominant tonight, with just four strikeouts, but he was plenty good enough to outduel Jeff Suppan.
May 19 - 1:34 AM
Jered Weaver was lit up by the Rangers on Sunday, surrendering eight runs in 3 1/3 innings to take his first loss.
That's just one run less than Weaver had given up in his eight starts combined. Weaver has given seven runs in a start just four times the last three years and three of those shellings have come in Arlington. We wonder if there might not be more rumors of sign stealing after this one, particularly after C.J. Wilson opted to go with multiple signs from the catcher with no one on base Saturday.
May 14 - 12:00 AM
Jered Weaver moved to 5-0 Monday, holding the Twins to one run on just three hits and two walks over six innings in the 8-3 win.
He struck out just two. It was hardly a dominating effort, especially given the opponent, but Weaver's owners will take it. The right-hander now sports a microscopic 1.60 ERA and 0.79 WHIP through his first seven starts this season, and he boasts a 47/9 K/BB ratio over 50 2/3 frames. He'll try to keep it rolling in a tough matchup this weekend in Texas.
May 7 - 11:33 PM
Jered Weaver pitched his way into the record books on Wednesday night against the Twins, throwing his first career no-hitter, and the 10th in team history.
Weaver struck out nine and walked just one in the magnificent outing. The only thing keeping Weaver's gem from being a perfect game was Chris Parmelee who reached base on a passed ball after striking out in the second inning and Josh Willingham who drew a walk. Making the night even more special for Weaver, his parents were on hand to enjoy the outing. He's now 4-0 on the season with a tremendous 1.61 ERA. He's looking like an early favorite to win the Cy Young in the American League, and will look to continue his strong start when he takes on these same Minnesota Twins in Minnesota on Monday.

Chris Iannetta underwent successful surgery on his right wrist Friday.
Iannetta had the pisiform bone removed from his wrist and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Bobby Wilson and John Hester will fill in behind the plate for now, though Hank Conger (elbow) could be an option in a couple weeks.

Erick Aybar
Sidelined
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that Erick Aybar (knee) should play Wednesday.
Aybar was hit in the right knee by a pitch during Tuesday's game, but it's not considered serious. "He'll be fine," said Scioscia. "We think he'll be OK tomorrow. It just hit him in a weird spot outside of his knee that got a little sore, a little numb, but he'll be OK." Aybar is batting just .230 over his first 41 games this season, but has hit safely in five straight games and six out of his last seven.

Torii Hunter
D.L.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia hopes that Torii Hunter will return from the restricted list during the club's current road trip.
The Angels won't return home until a week from Monday, so Scioscia is offering a rather broad goal. Hunter was placed on the restricted list Monday after his 17-year-old son, Darius McClinton-Hunter, was arrested in Texas on charges related to sexual assault. At the time, Hunter said he wouldn't rejoin the Angels until his son's legal issues were resolved. One of the family's lawyers, Todd Shapiro, called for charges to be dismissed after the accuser "recanted everything that she told the police eight days ago" in a phone call which was unknowingly taped by a Hunter family friend, so perhaps resolution is forthcoming.

LaTroy Hawkins threw Monday without a custom splint for the first time since breaking his right pinkie finger earlier this month.
Hawkins began throwing on flat ground over the weekend, but he now feels comfortable enough to do it without the splint. The veteran right-hander remains on track to return in the early part of June.
