Braves acquired INF Ruben Gotay from the Blue Jays for cash considerations; assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Gotay spent roughly half of last season in the Braves organization before inking a minor league deal with Toronto in the spring. He hit .346 with a .435 OBP in 92 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas. Gotay will give the Braves some infield depth at Triple-A.

Blue Jays signed INF Ruben Gotay to a minor league contract.
Gotay, 29, batted .247/.333/.347 with nine homers, 47 RBI, 11 stolen bases and a .679 OPS at the Triple-A level last season with the Marlins and Braves. He hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008 and will likely serve as organizational depth.

Braves signed INF Ruben Gotay to a minor league contract.
Gotay hit .236/.340/.374 with six homers over 203 at-bats for Triple-A New Orleans in the Marlins organization but chose to opt out of his contract in order to become a free agent. He'll give the Braves some infield depth at Triple-A.

Marlins signed INF Ruben Gotay to a minor league contract.
Gotay posted a respectable .285/.410/.436 batting line in 577 plate appearances this past season for the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate. He's only 27 and could climb to the majors in south Florida next year.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) will make his first official minor league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Beachy was cleared after he threw 29 pitches over two innings Tuesday during a start in extended spring training. He's expected to make around five starts in the minors, which puts him on pace to join the Braves around the anniversary of his Tommy John surgery on June 21. He's well worth stashing in most fantasy leagues.

Jonny Venters underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Thursday afternoon.
It's the second time he's had the procedure in his baseball career. Venters can now be ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season and is also likely to miss the first couple months of the 2014 campaign. It's obviously a pretty big loss for the Atlanta bullpen.

Eric O'Flaherty will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left ulnar collateral ligament.
It was inevitable after an MRI over the weekend revealed the bad news. In addition to obviously missing the rest of this season, O'Flaherty will likely be sidelined for the first couple months of the 2014 campaign, as well.

Jordan Walden (shoulder) will not be ready to be activated from the disabled list next Monday.
That's the first day he's eligible to return, but the right-hander is not quite far along enough. Walden will throw a bullpen session later this week and then head out on a short minor league rehab assignment. He should be ready for activation just before the end of May.

Braves placed RHP Luis Ayala on the 15-day disabled list with anxiety disorder.
Obviously it's impossible to predict how much time Ayala might miss. David Carpenter has been recalled to take his spot in the bullpen.

Cristhian Martinez (shoulder) still doesn't have a timetable for his return.
The Braves reliever has been sidelined since April 12 with a right shoulder sprain, and apparently it was serious enough that the Braves still don't have any idea when he might be back. The right-hander had a 3.91 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings last year.
