James Shields allowed five runs, including two home runs, over seven innings in Saturday's loss to the Twins.
Getting shelled by a team that got shelled by pretty much everyone else was a fitting way to end a disastrous 2016 campaign for Shields. The right-hander finishes the year 6-19 with a 5.85 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 33 starts, easily the worst numbers of his career. The 34-year-old is signed through 2018, so while he'll be pitching somewhere next year, it's worth wondering what that will look like. Oct 1 - 11:34 PM
