3B	1	Alex Rodriguez D.L. Alex Rodriguez (hip) is scheduled to face live pitching for the first time this year on Tuesday in Tampa. A-Rod is finally beginning to take major strides in his recovery from January hip surgery. He ran the bases at 75 percent effort over the weekend and is now ready to begin working on his timing at the plate. The veteran third baseman will be activated from the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break if everything continues to go according to plan with his rehab. Jun 17
	2	Kevin Youkilis D.L. Kevin Youkilis has a herniated disc in his back and will undergo surgery to repair it on Thursday. He is expected to need about 10-12 weeks of rest and rehab, which puts his season in jeopardy. It's another brutal blow to the Yankees, who have been without third baseman Alex Rodriguez (hip) all year. Youkilis was batting .219/.305/.343 with two home runs and eight RBI in 28 games as A-Rod's fill-in at the hot corner. Jun 18
