Orioles purchased the contract of INF/OF Steve Pearce from Triple-A Norfolk.
He's earned the last spot on the Orioles' bench after posting a 1.198 OPS with six home runs and 17 RBI this spring. Pearce should see some DH time against left-handers.

Steve Pearce popped his fifth homer of the spring Friday against the Rays.
Pearce leads the Orioles in homers, RBI (13) and OPS (1.370) this spring as he attempts to win a spot as a righty off the bench. It's not like he could do anything more.

Teagarden was originally given a 3-4 week timetable for recovery when the injury occurred, so barring any setbacks he should be looking at a return to the Orioles before the end of the month.

Orioles transferred 2B Brian Roberts from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's just a procedural move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Roberts underwent surgery last Thursday to repair a ruptured tendon in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined for at least the next six weeks.

It's been very slow progress for Betemit in his recovery from surgery to repair a PCL tear in his right knee. He still has yet to be cleared to resume baseball activities, and the timetable for his return continues to be pushed back. He's virtually irrelevant for fantasy purposes at this point.

Orioles placed RHP Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 13, with a strained right oblique.
Chen left Sunday's start with a right oblique strain and will rest for a bit before returning to throwing. Jair Jurrjens is the most likely candidate to take his place in the starting rotation.

Miguel Gonzalez (thumb) is expected to be activated to start Tuesday against the Yankees.
Gonzalez was cleared to return after he threw a simulated game Friday with no issues. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since May 4 with a blister on his right thumb. He has a 4.58 ERA and 22/14 K/BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings in six starts this season.

Tsuyoshi Wada (elbow) allowed four runs over four innings Thursday in a rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk.
Wada gave up three hits and issued two walks but he fanned five batters and made it all the way to 78 pitches (45 of which were strikes). He's on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is aiming to join the Orioles' starting rotation at some point in early-to-mind June. The left-hander signed a two-year, $8.15 million contract with the O's in December 2011 but has not yet thrown a pitch in a major league game.
