Lance Lynn improved to 6-1 after allowing three runs and four hits in seven innings Monday against the Mets.
The Mets made Lynn work -- he walked five and threw 124 pitches in his seven innings -- but they never did break through against him. Lynn joins Jordan Zimmermann as the only NL starters with six wins this season.

Lance Lynn allowed two earned runs over seven innings as the Cardinals fell to the Cubs on Tuesday.
Lynn was dominant for most of the night, yielding only four hits and a walk while striking out eight. But he gave up a single to Alfonso Soriano in the bottom of the fourth and Nate Schierholtz followed with a two-run homer to center field. Lynn is now 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 47/16 K/BB ratio in 43 innings this season. He remains a must-start in fantasy leagues.

Lance Lynn became the National League's first five-game winner after pitching seven innings of one-run ball against the Reds on Wednesday.
It was quite a day for Lynn; he even singled to snap a 52-at-bat hitless skid. Lynn has allowed a total of two runs over 21 innings in his last three starts. His 2013 is shaping up a lot like his 2012 so far. Let's just hope there's no repeat of his second half.

Lance Lynn improved to 4-0 by firing seven innings of one-run ball Friday against the Pirates.
Lynn was dominant, striking out nine batters while giving up just two hits and three walks. He also hit Starling Marte twice. The lone run scored on a sacrifice fly by Pedro Alvarez in the sixth inning. Lynn has allowed one earned run or less in three out of his last four starts and has a 3.10 ERA and 34/13 K/BB ratio across his first 29 innings of work this season. He has a tough test against the Reds next time out, but he struck out 10 over six innings of one-run ball in his first start against them on April 9. Fantasy owners will hope for a repeat performance.

Westbrook was hoping to throw Friday, but he required another injection after an MRI revealed scar tissue around his right elbow. The Cardinals originally estimated that he would only miss two starts, but rookie John Gast figures to stick around for a little while longer.

Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Chris Carpenter is conditioning himself to be a starter.
When it was initially revealed that Carpenter was going to attempt a comeback this season, the general assumption was that he would be aiming to join the St. Louis bullpen. But the veteran right-hander is stretching himself out in case a spot opens up in the Cardinals' starting rotation. The remarkable story continues.
