Jordan Zimmermann tossed a nice game in Wednesday afternoon's win over the Mets, allowing three runs on seven hits over seven innings.
Zimmermann struck out six without walking a batter. All three runs against him scored in the fourth inning, when he surrendered a two-run double to Kirk Nieuwenhuis and an RBI single to Kevin Plawecki. Unfortunately for Zimmy, the Nationals' offense stalled out against Noah Syndergaard and company, and the pitcher would be out of the game by the time his teammates finally rallied to take the lead in the eighth inning. On the whole this season, Zimmermann holds a 3.30 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 90/21 K/BB ratio across 126 2/3 innings. He'll take to the road against the Marlins next time he toes the rubber.
