Indians optioned 3B Lonnie Chisenhall to Triple-A Columbus.
Chisenhall opened the 2013 season as the Indians' everyday third baseman but batted just .213/.253/.351 with 22 strikeouts over his first 99 plate appearances. The 24-year-old should work his way back up eventually. Mark Reynolds is starting at third base Monday and could see semi-regular playing time there with Mike Aviles.

Lonnie Chisenhall is not in the Indians' lineup Tuesday for the second straight game.
The Indians are giving the third baseman a couple days off in a row to work on his swing. "After the game on Sunday," manager Terry Francona explained, "we told him that we wanted him to take two days with [hitting coach Ty Van Burkleo] and kind of hit until his heart was content. Hit, hit, hit, hit without the game hanging over him." Chisenhall is batting just .231 with three home runs and 11 RBI this season, but he is hitting for a .286 average over his past 11 games. However, he's hitting left-handers at an ugly .095 (2-for-21) clip. Mark Reynolds is getting a second straight start at the hot corner.

Lonnie Chisenhall launched a two-run homer on Friday, accounting for all of the Tribe’s offense in a loss to the Astros.
Chisenhall finished the night 1-for-4. His fourth inning blast off Lucas Harrell pulled the Indians to within one, but that’s as close as they would come. Chisenhall is scuffling a bit at the plate in the early part of the season, hitting just .205/ / with a pair of homers and eight RBI. While he’s in no danger of losing his job, fantasy owners in deeper leagues may want to look elsewhere for a corner infield option until he gets going.

Lonnie Chisenhall went 0-for-4 at the plate in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.
A former top prospect, Chisenhall drew some sleeper buzz after sporting a red-hot bat during spring training, but he's batting just .167 with one homer and a 1/12 BB/K ratio over his first 37 plate appearances. He's already platooning with Mike Aviles at third base and could wind up being benched some against righties.

Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."

Myers' velocity was down on Wednesday in his second rehab outing with Double-A Akron, and he walked four while allowing three runs over 4 1/3 frames. Assuming his velocity comes back up the next time out, he could rejoin the Indians' rotation after that.

Josh Tomlin (Tommy John surgery) could return near the end of the season.
Tomlin went under the knife last August. At this point in his rehab, it's hard to predict if a 2013 return is in the cards. Tomlin has said he'd rather be 100 percent for 2014 rather than making a premature late-season return this year. The right-hander posted a 6.36 ERA in 16 starts and five relief appearances with the Indians last season.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.

Indians transferred RHP Frank Herrmann from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Robert Whitenack on the 40-man roster. Herrmann had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the entire 2013 season.
