Tyler Chatwood struck out seven and gave up just one hit but walked a whopping seven batters in Tuesday’s loss to the Cardinals.
It was really cold in Chicago, but we can’t say for sure that it had an effect on Chatwood’s control given his track record. The seven walks weren’t a career high, as he’s actually walked eight in a start on two occasions. The one hit Chatwood permitted was an RBI double to Matt Carpenter, and another run was charged to his ledger on an RBI groundout. Chatwood’s velocity remains up like it was last season, but it’s not going to matter if he doesn’t throw strikes. He faces the Indians in Cleveland next. Apr 17 - 11:59 PM
