Chris Archer surrendered four runs -- three earned -- in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Archer wasn't affected by the rain delay; in fact, it happened right after he was removed from the game. The loss dropped Archer to 1-3 with a 5.03 ERA. It's not looking good for his chances of keeping his rotation spot if David Price and Alex Cobb can both pull off successful returns in early July.

Chris Archer allowed two runs in lasting only four innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday.
It was a Chris Archer start if ever there was one, as the right-hander managed to throw 103 pitches in just four innings of work. That was due mainly to the fact that he walked four batters while striking out seven. The only runs came on a Daniel Nava two-run homer, but that was enough to saddle Archer with his second loss in three starts. He'll have a shot at some revenge when the Rays visit the Red Sox next week.

Chris Archer was very impressive Friday night against the Orioles, allowing just one run on two hits over seven innings as part of a 2-1 victory.
A quality outing against a tough lineup, Archer struck out two and walked two and retired 13 out of the final 14 batters he faced. David Price (triceps) figures to return from the disabled list later this month, but Archer should remain valuable in AL-only leagues for now. He'll square off against the Red Sox next week.

Chris Archer yielded five runs in four-plus innings Saturday in a loss to the Indians.
Archer struggled in the tough matchup, allowing seven hits (including two homers) and three walks. While he has a promising future, things won't get any easier next time out against the Orioles. It's worth noting that Alex Torres tossed four scoreless innings in relief of Archer and could possibly get the nod in his place next week.

Rays manager Joe Maddon spoke to Alex Cobb (concussion), who said there's no timetable for his return.
Cobb was diagnosed with a concussion after he was hit in the head by a line drive on Saturday and is currently on the 7-day disabled list. He'll have to be cleared by MLB before returning to action and Maddon isn't ready to say for sure when that might be. It could be a lengthy absence.

It's his first since last September's Tommy John surgery. It's possible Oviedo could make it back to the Rays' bullpen late in the season, but they signed him in hopes that he could contribute in 2014.

Rays transferred RHP Jeff Niemann from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-acquired Jeff Beliveau. Niemann underwent shoulder surgery last week and is unlikely to return this season.
