Dodgers acquired RHP Juan Nicasio from the Rockies for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Colorado designated Nicasio for assignment last week, allowing new Dodgers' honcho Andrew Friedman to swoop in and acquire him at a (presumed) discount. However it turns out, consider it a worthwhile gamble. Yes, Nicasio has posted an ugly career ERA of 5.03 over four seasons in the majors. That number, of course, was compiled in Coors Field. Nicasio, the owner of a nice right arm, still retains a little upside, and has already proven, by the age of 28, to be capable of both starting and pitching out of the bullpen. In Los Angeles, he'll be a swing man, and a possible possessor of NL-only intrigue at some point in 2015 if the Dodgers suffer rotational injuries. Nov 24 - 4:22 PM
