Rangers signed OF Brett Eibner to a two-year minor league contract.
He is recovering from Tommy John surgery and may miss the early part of the 2018 season. Eibner batted just .182/.250/.364 in 17 games for the Dodgers in 2017. Los Angeles began the process of transitioning Eibner into a pitcher but that experiment didn't last long due to the elbow injury. The Rangers signed him as an outfielder, seemingly ending the possibility of a return to the mound. Eibner put up some big numbers for a couple of years when he was a Royals minor leaguer but hasn't gained any traction in his brief major league stints with the Royals, Athletics, and Dodgers. For his career he has a .191 batting average with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 244 major league plate appearances. Fri, Dec 22, 2017 11:23:00 PM
