Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow indicated that with an injury in the Astros rotation or a strong showing in the minor leagues, Mark Appel could reach the major leagues in 2015.
The top overall selection from the 2013 draft, Appel had a rough season in 2014, compiling a 6.91 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 78/24 K/BB ratio over 83 1/3 innings between High-A Lancaster and Double-A Corpus Christi. He finished the season strong though, and has looked terrific in the Arizona Fall league. Even if he does crack the Astros rotation in 2015, he's unlikely to make a major fantasy impact in redraft leagues. Sun, Nov 9, 2014 10:41:00 PM
