Twins prospect Byron Buxton went 5-for-6 with a double and two triples Wednesday at Low-A Cedar Rapids.
Buxton, the second overall pick in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft, is now batting .348/.444/.578 with seven homers, 40 RBI and 26 stolen bases in 53 games this season in the Midwest League. The talented 19-year-old outfielder should rise quickly through the Twins' system and could be a factor in fantasy leagues by the end of 2014.

Making his first appearance in a Grapefruit League game, Byron Buxton went 1-for-4 with a walk, two steals and three runs scored Wednesday in the Twins' 7-4 win over the Pirates.
A nice little debut for the No. 2 pick in the 2012 draft. The 19-year-old is slated to play low-A ball this season.

Twins signed 2012 first-round pick outfielder Byron Buxton.
It's official. Buxton will get a $6 million bonus, which will likely be the highest bonus handed out in this year's draft class. No. 1 overall pick Carlos Correa received a $4.8 million bonus from the Astros. Buxton, a five-tool outfielder from Georgia, will begin his pro career with the organization's Rookie-Level Gulf Coast League team.

Jim Callis of Baseball America reports that 2012 No. 2 overall pick Byron Buxton will get a $6 million bonus from the Twins.
Buxton will get slightly under the recommended slot value of $6.2 million for the No. 2 overall pick, but it figures to be the highest bonus in this year's draft class, as No. 1 pick Carlos Correa got $4.8 million from the Astros. It will also top Joe Mauer ($5.1 million in 2001) for the highest bonus in team history.

Sidelined
Josh Willingham is not in the Twins' lineup Sunday after being given a cortisone shot in his ailing left knee.
The knee has been giving Willingham issues for a while, so the club decided it was best to give him a shot in hopes that it speeds along the recovery process. The outfielder is hoping to be back in the lineup Tuesday after Monday's off day. Oswaldo Arcia is starting in left field Sunday.

Wilkin Ramirez (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment in about a week if his workouts at the Twins' spring training complex go well.
Ramirez has been out since late May but is no longer experiencing concussion-related symptoms. He should rejoin the Twins before the end of the month.

Twins placed OF Aaron Hicks on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Hicks is likely to be sidelined for around three weeks. The 23-year-old rookie center fielder is batting just .179/.249/.326 in 55 games this season but he does have six home runs, 19 RBI and four stolen bases. Oswaldo Arcia was called up in a corresponding move.

He'll now wear a walking boot for about two weeks. Mastroianni isn't expected back until after the All-Star break.

Wood has been out all season with a shoulder injury and recently had a setback. There's no timetable for his return.
