Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Tuesday that outfield prospect Stephen Piscotty could be given reps at first base in spring training.
The Cards are looking at options outside the organization to possibly platoon with Matt Adams at first, but if they're not able to land anyone on that front they could turn to Piscotty. The former sandwich round pick played plenty of third base in college and at the beginning of his pro career, so he should be able to handle first base. Piscotty, who sports a career .292/.359/.435 line in the minors, was recently named St. Louis' No. 1 prospect by Baseball America. Dec 9 - 9:37 PM
