Rays prospect RHP Nate Karns had another solid outing, allowing one earned run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings for Triple-A Durham.
He struck out six batters and issued one walk in the game. Karns, 25, got off to a terrible start this season, registering an 8.20 ERA and 33/18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 26 1/3 innings (six starts), but he's pitched much better in his last two turns, with a 1.32 ERA and .178 BAA in 13 2/3 frames. If he can continue to exhibit consistency at Durham, Karns should get a chance to pitch at the back end of the Rays' rotation later in the season. May 12 - 11:29 AM
