Jonathan Broxton has lowered his ERA from 6.35 to 4.41 in May.
He hasn't allowed an earned run in five appearances this month. The former lights-out Dodgers closer has lost all of his mixed league appeal pitching in front of Aroldis Chapman, but he's still plenty useful in NL-only formats and leagues that count holds.

Jonathan Broxton (hand) is available Tuesday night.
Broxton was hit in the right hand by a Nate Schierholtz comebacker on Monday night, but X-rays turned up negative. "I'm fine," he told reporters Tuesday afternoon.

Broxton couldn't avoid Nate Schierholtz's liner Monday, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. The setup man can probably safely be considered day-to-day.

It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The Reds have determined that Chris Heisey's hamstring aggravation was not severe.
"It wasn’t horrendous," assistant general manager Bob Miller said. "He tweaked it." Heisey won't return until the next homestand, which runs from May 24-28, at the earliest. It's certainly possible his absence could stretch into June.

Johnny Cueto (lat, oblique) has been cleared to return to the Reds' rotation on Monday in New York.
Cueto threw five shutout innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Low-A Daytona Dragons and deemed himself fully healthy afterward. He was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a strained right lat and then later began experiencing oblique soreness. But all is well now. The Reds haven't decided whether Mike Leake or Tony Cingrani will be demoted to clear a rotation spot.

Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.
No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Reds transferred RHP Nick Masset from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Masset is still recovering from right shoulder surgery, and he was recently shut down after suffering a setback. The right-hander hasn't pitched since 2011.
