Brandon Hyde has been named the Cubs' new bench coach.
Hyde played professionally in the White Sox organization from 1997-2001 before serving as a coach and manager at various levels of the Marlins' minor league system. He then took the bench coach job under former Cubs manager Rick Renteria before moving to first base coach when Joe Maddon was brought aboard. Hyde had been offered the Mets' bench coach position earlier this offseason, but Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic says the Cubs "stepped up to keep him." Thu, Nov 9, 2017 11:02:00 AM
