Phillies prospect RHP Aaron Nola was brilliant on Thursday in his debut for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, allowing just four hits in five scoreless innings.
He walked one and fanned seven in the outing, throwing 66 of 98 pitches for strikes. Nola, whom the Phillies selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 draft, was moved up to Triple-A after going 7-3 with a 1.88 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 59/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 76 2/3 innings (12 starts) for Double-A Reading. The 22-year-old right-hander doesn’t have much more to prove in the minor leagues, and it shouldn’t be long until he’s called up to join the Phillies’ rotation. Jun 19 - 5:07 PM
