Alex Bregman belted a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 10th inning Tuesday as the American League beat the National League 8-6 in the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Washington, D.C.
Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett tied things up in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run homer off Mariners closer Edwin Diaz, but Bregman and the American League All-Stars quickly got revenge, plating three runs off Dodgers starter Ross Stripling in the first frame of extras to seal the deal. Bregman and his Astros teammate George Springer went back-to-back to lead off the top of the 10th and then Jean Segura and Mitch Moreland both singled, with Segura eventually being driven in on a sacrifice fly for the AL's eighth run of the affair. There were 10 total home runs hit on the night, a new All-Star Game record. The previous record was six. Bregman was named the MVP. Jul 17 - 11:59 PM
