Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports that the Phillies will indeed hire Gabe Kapler as their next manager.
This confirms a report from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. According to Zolecki, the Phillies could make it official as soon as Monday's off-day for the World Series. It was reported last week that Triple-A manager Dusty Wathan was the front-runner, but Zolecki writes that things changed after Kapler impressed during the second round of interviews last Friday. Kapler has been the Dodgers' director of player development since November of 2014. He has limited managing experience, consisting of a brief stint with the Red Sox' Class A affiliate back in 2007, but he's been a popular managerial candidate in recent years. With his background in nutrition and analytics, the Phillies are hoping Kapler can be the right man to lead their young clubhouse. Mon, Oct 30, 2017 09:24:00 AM
