Roush Fenway Racing announces that legendary NASCAR driver Mark Martin is returning to the race team where he excelled behind the wheel for almost 20 years - this time as the team’s driver development coach.
Martin was the first driver hired by team owner Jack Roush when he founded his NASCAR operation in 1988. The two went on to become one of the most successful duos in sports history, accumulating 83 NASCAR wins, four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship runner-up finishes, and building Roush Fenway into the winningest team in NASCAR history. Martin piloted Roush Fenway’s flagship No. 6 Ford from 1988 until 2006. During that time he accumulated 35 NSCS victories. At the end of his tenure at Roush Fenway he held a record five prestigious IROC (International Race of Champions) Championships and a then record 47 NASCAR Nationwide Series wins. For his career Martin posted 96 career NASCAR victories.-Roush Fenway Racing

The AAA Texas 500 will be Mark Martin’s 26th Sprint Cup start at Texas Motor Speedway.
He has a win, six top-threes, eight top-fives, 13 top-10s and has led a total of 208 laps in his Cup starts at Texas. His average start is 15.4, his average finish is 13.9 and he has a lap completion rate of 94.5 percent. Martin is one of only four Sprint Cup drivers who have made all 25 Sprint Cup starts at Texas, joining Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte and Jeff Burton. In his starts at Texas, he has driven for five team owners: Jack Roush (12 starts), Bobby Ginn (2 starts), Dale Earnhardt (2 starts), Rick Hendrick (6 starts) and Michael Waltrip (3 starts). He will drive the No. 14 for Stewart Haas Racing in Sunday's event.

While two years removed from his last New Hampshire race, Mark Martin (14 Chevrolet) remains rock solid in the Granite State.
He is a 40-time Sprint Cup winner, the most recent of which came at New Hampshire on Sept. 20, 2009. He has two poles and nine top-fives and 14 top-10s in his 30 starts dating back to 1993 when the track first hosted the Sprint Cup Series.
