Deron Williams admitted to using media criticism as fuel for his second-half surge this season.
Interesting. "When you hear people talking about it that way ... [that] it's all on me ... it definitely hurts, definitely motivates you to come back stronger," said Williams, adding, "So I look forward to prove people wrong -- for years to come." Williams was widely criticized for his play in the first half of the year, but he bounced back favorably with averages of 22.9 points, 8.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.8 triples after the All-Star break. As long as his ankles stay healthy, Williams should produce at a similar level from the beginning of next season.

The Nets have reportedly put Scott Skiles "on their short list" of head coach candidates.
Brooklyn has also been linked to Brian Shaw, Lionel Hollins and Phil Jackson, and we're viewing all rumors of their coaching search with skepticism.

Tim Bontemps of the New York Post expects the Nets to interview Pacers associate coach Brian Shaw and Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins once their respective playoff runs are over.
The Nets have been relatively quiet in their search to replace interim coach P.J. Carlesimo. There were reports of interest in Phil Jackson but the Zen Master dismissed those through back channels. Both Shaw and Hollins figure to be extremely popular names on the coaching market once they're available, although we can't imagine Memphis letting Hollins go with the Grizzlies currently in the Western Conference finals.

The Nets stayed alive with a Game 6 95-92 win in Chicago with Deron Williams scoring 17 points, while adding two boards, 11 assists and one 3-pointer in 42 minutes.
The Nets only turned the ball over nine times in the win. They also allowed just eight fastbreak points and kept their mistakes to a minimum while in halfcourt sets. Their offense has been much better lately and they're coming off a 110-point outing from Game 5. They'll look to take that momentum into the Barclay's Center for Game 7 on Saturday.
