The Cavs would like to re-sign Wayne Ellington, according to the News-Herald.
Ellington was acquired during the season and proved to be a valuable asset at times, but retaining him would mean extending a qualifying offer of approximately $3 million. It's too early to tell if the team will choose to do so, but if they did, it would make Ellington a restricted free agent.

Wayne Ellington shot 4-of-12 from the field for 10 points with four boards and two assists in 34 minutes against the Hawks on Monday.
The Cavs were very thin with Kyrie Irving, C.J. Miles and Dion Waiters all out of the lineup, so Ellington was responsible for a lot of the offense. He can fill it up from three and is worth a look as long as Miles and Waiters are out.

Wayne Ellington started again for the Cavaliers and had 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals and a 3-pointer on 7-of-16 shooting in 33 minutes.
C.J. Miles came off the bench for 13 points, four boards, six assists, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes, as the duo continues to share time with Dion Waiters possibly shutdown for the rest of the season. Ellington is the guy to own here because he's starting and getting more minutes, but Miles looked pretty good in this one too.

Making another start at shooting guard, Wayne Ellington had 13 points, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in Friday's loss to the Rockets.
Ellington is a borderline rotation player on most teams. But on the Cavs, he's a featured player. With Dion Waiters (knee) sidelined until next week and possibly through the rest of the season, Ellington is locked in as the starting two. He played 21 minutes Friday, compared to just 15 for C.J. Miles.

Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot in his lung and is out for the season.
A bad break gets worse for Varejao, who is now officially done for the season, according to the Cavs. Varejao just had surgery for a small split in his right quad, and he is expected to remain at the Cleveland Clinic to be treated and monitored. The good news is that he's expected to make a full recovery. This locks Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller in as the starting frontcourt for the remainder of the season. Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks as the starting power forward, while Zeller is averaging 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as the starting center.
