Contrary to a previous report, Vivek Ranadive did not meet with Larry Bird on Wednesday to discuss a role with the team.
In response to a report from Peter Vecsey, the Sacramento Bee reports the Kings have "been in conversations with Larry Bird about a role in running basketball operations," but it's not clear what the role would be or when the two sides have actually spoken. Bird is reportedly asking for a $5 million salary and a piece of the team, so the asking price is steep. Ranadive is expected to meet with other candidates in order to replace Geoff Petrie.
