Al-Farouq Aminu grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds to go with 16 points and one board in 34 minutes against the Mavericks on Wednesday.
He's one of the best rebounding small forwards in the NBA, but his offense has been a liability for the Hornets most of the season. The Hornets will likely address small forward in the offseason.

Al-Farouq Aminu scored eight points on 4-of-11 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds and four steals in Friday's loss to the Jazz.
Aminu is going to be all over the board to finish the year, and if you decide to ride that ride then you're hoping for big defensive and rebounding numbers.

The Hornets fell on Wednesday despite Al-Farouq Aminu racking up 14 points on 7-of-8 FGs, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.
AFA was averaging 6.0 points, 0.3 steals and 0.0 blocks in his previous three games, which says all you need to know about his reliability in fantasy leagues.

Al-Farouq Aminu played under 19 minutes vs. the Cavaliers on Sunday, finishing with four points, five rebounds and no other stats to his credit.
Ryan Anderson played well, scoring 23 points with five 3-pointers, and Monty Williams even gave 22 minutes to Darius Miller, who scored eight points with two rebounds off the bench. Aminu's boxscores are littered with single-digit numbers, as the starting SF job hasn't made him a reliable source of anything beyond rebounds (8.1) and steals (1.4).

A source told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Eric Gordon trade rumors have "no merit."
Gordon is expected to be shopped by the Pelicans as the team looks to get out from under his contract, but right now it appears the team is committed to keeping him. We'd expect that to change as we enter the offseason and more teams begin to get active in shaping their plans for next season, but he'll remain with the Pelicans for now.

Austin Rivers says he would prefer to play point guard next season.
Rivers was drafted as a bit of a combo guard and the Hornets used him at shooting guard while Eric Gordon was sidelined. Of course, Rivers had arguably the worst rookie season ever, at least from a shooting point of view. The rookie shot just 37 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range in 61 games. "I played best when I was a one. Moving forward, that's what I'm going to try to do," Rivers said.

Anthony Davis said his biggest focus for the offseason is to get stronger.
Davis' 6'10/220 frame just couldn't handle the NBA's bigger interior players. It also played a role in him missing 18 games (21.9 percent) as a rookie. The fact that Davis was still able to average 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks speaks to his monstrous upside. Still just 20 years old, the Kentucky product has plenty of room for explosive growth.

Sidelined
Jason Smith (shoulder surgery) has one year left on his contract at $2.5 million, but it's only guaranteed for $1 million if he's waived before June 30th.
Smith said recently that he's "making progress" in his rehab and it will be interesting to see if the Pelicans keep him on their roster -- $2.5 million isn't unreasonable for a solid backup PF/C, but Smith seems injury-prone after having three major surgeries in the past six years.
