The Bulls are not expected to bring over draft pick Nikola Mirotic from Europe until the 2014 offseason.
"You're slotted in the first round, and I think the slot for No. 24 is $1.3 or $1.4 million," GM Gar Forman said. "Well, he makes a lot more money than that right now over at Real Madrid. So the way the CBA is written is after three years then you're no longer slotted." Mirotic is an exciting young prospect with a ton of talent, but Chicago will have to wait at least one more full season (2013/14) before he's available. "We're really, really excited about him," Forman added.

Bulls prospect Nikola Mirotic is a "rising star" in the Euroleague, but the earliest he could escape his contract with Real Madrid is the 2013-14 season.
A more realistic date is 2014-15, when his $2.5 million buyout will be more reasonable. Mirotic admits that he needs to improve his defense and add more strength (he is 6'10", 210 lbs), but he's a repeat winner of the Euroleague's "Rising Star Trophy," and last season he averaged 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in only 21 minutes per game.

Nikola Mirotic, the No. 23 overall pick in 2011, is not expected to come to the NBA until at least 2014.
GM Gar Forman said that Mirotic will remain under contract with Real Madrid for the "next couple years," but also stated that it was the team's "goal" that Mirotic will be in a Bulls uniform in the foreseeable future. Mirotic became the first two-time Euroleague Rising Star Trophy winner this season.

Bulls draft pick Nikola Mirotic continues to impress with Real Madrid, but he's under contract through 2015 and isn't likely to come to the NBA for at least a few more seasons.
The Bulls traded to get him on draft day and are willing to let the 20-year-old develop overseas for a few years. "We can’t say for sure when he’ll be able to come over, but we’re hopeful he’ll be a big part of what we’re doing," said GM Gar Forman.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Thursday that Derrick Rose (knee) will be ready to go next season.
Rose didn't play all season after suffering a torn left ACL and MCL in Game 1 of last year's playoffs. The saga of whether he would return to the lineup reached nauseating levels in the second half of the year and he'll likely be dogged by questions about it all summer long. The good news is that he should be 100 percent when training camp opens next fall, which should mean a very long and productive season once Rose shakes off the rust.

Kirk Hinrich (calf) is not expected to need surgery.
Hinrich should be able to make a full recovery without surgery, and while that's good news, Hinrich remains an injury risk going into next season. He dealt with a myriad of injuries this season, but he should be able to keep his body in better shape playing a backup role behind Derrick Rose next season. Hinrich was never expected to play the role he wound up playing this year.

Luol Deng (illness) reported improvement since the Bulls season ended.
Thankfully, it looks as if Deng's ordeal is coming to a conclusion at some point in the near future. He's expected to make a full recovery, but it's becoming increasingly clear how far he was from actually playing in round two against the Heat.
