George Karl said the Nuggets showed a lack of maturity in their opening-round loss to the Warriors.
To be fair, Karl also pointed the finger at himself, saying maybe he was too arrogant entering the postseason. "We're the No. 1 scoring team in the NBA. We're the worst-shooting team in basketball. We're one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in basketball, Karl said. "We're a team with a philosophy of getting fouled that didn't always shoot free throws well. And you don't think we're creative enough to figure out what we need or how to add to this team?" Sounds like the Nuggets have quite the training camp in store for them next fall.

Masai Ujiri will be named Executive of the Year, the NBA has announced.
One day after George Karl was named Coach of the Year, Ujiri will get the award for Executive of the Year. It's a little curious given that most felt Daryl Morey had the award locked up after Houston's rise this season and his acquisition of James Harden, but instead it will go to Ujiri.

George Karl has been named the 2012/13 NBA Coach of the Year.
Karl's Nuggets went out in the first round, but winning the award should go a long way toward solidifying Karl's role on Denver's bench. The Nuggets previously said they'd given no thought to firing Karl, and we can't imagine they'd do so now after being named Coach of the Year. Erik Spoelstra, Mike Goodson, Gregg Popovich and Frank Vogel rounded out the top five.

Team president Josh Kroenke said the Nuggets "haven't really given any thought" to firing George Karl.
In the next sentence, Kroenke said Karl should be coach of the year after he pieced together a 57-win season. However, the Nuggets have gotten out of the first round of the playoffs just once in Karl's eight years in Denver and there have been rumblings that Karl's job was in danger if he didn't win a series this season. Veteran point guard Andre Miller said the Nuggets "outplayed, outcoached, out-toughed" by the Warriors, with which Karl didn't have a problem. If Karl does return next season, he could be facing some changes on the roster. Andre Iguodala is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and could be lured away as a free agent, while Danilo Gallinari (ACL) will likely miss a decent portion of next season.

Danilo Gallinari will undergo his second knee surgery in three weeks.
Gallinari had his meniscus repaired three weeks ago, and now he'll undergo a surgery to repair his torn ACL. Since Gallinari won't have his ACL surgery until June, there is virtually no way he'll be ready for the start of the season and we could be looking at a scenario where the forward is out until around Christmas or potentially the start of 2014. It's a situation fantasy owners need to watch closely during the offseason.
