Phil Jackson has agreed to step down as the Knicks' president of basketball operations.
Jackson definitely hit a home run when he drafted Kristaps Porzingis No. 4 overall in the 2015 NBA draft, but that's pretty much been the extent of his accomplishments during his three years at the helm of the Knicks' front office. He alienated stars like Carmelo Anthony and Porzingis, signed a washed up Joakim Noah to a four-year deal worth $72 million and went with Frank Ntilikina over Dennis Smith Jr. in the 2017 NBA draft due to his infatuation with the triangle offense. With Jackson getting the boot, there's a better chance Melo will remain a Knick, and GM Steve Mills will guide the team during free agency. It's unclear if Raptors President of Basketball operations Masai Ujiri, who is New York's reported preference to replace Jackson, has any interest in joining the Knicks. Wed, Jun 28, 2017 10:06:00 AM
