Anthony Parker, who retired in June after nine NBA seasons, has been hired as a scout for the Magic.
Parker is widely admired for his character, and would be a quality addition to any franchise. Depending upon his interests, it shouldn't take him long to transition from the scouting department to some team's coaching staff.

Anthony Parker has officially announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NBA.
The 37-year-old swingman finishes with career averages of 9.1 points (40.4 percent from downtown), 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. He established a reputation as one of the league's quality veteran leaders, and his presence will be sorely missed in the Cavs' locker room.

Anthony Parker is unlikely to return to the Cavs next season.
Retirement has already been listed as an option, but the Cavs need to get younger at shooting guard and Parker is an unrestricted free agent. With averages of just 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds, the veteran may have to settle for a minimum contract if he wants to continue playing. His troublesome back was a problem again this season, and that issue is unlikely to subside as he gets older.

Anthony Parker played 23 minutes in Monday's loss to the Grizzlies, scoring five points on 1-of-4 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Parker was used in many leagues during the Cavs' three-game week for his versatile, albeit modest numbers, but we might have gotten a glimpse of how he wants to go out tonight. Parker, set to retire after this year, would likely be given his choice of workloads heading out the door, and in this close contest he was content to take a limited role. Expect more of the same going forward, with anything more being a nice surprise.

Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot in his lung and is out for the season.
A bad break gets worse for Varejao, who is now officially done for the season, according to the Cavs. Varejao just had surgery for a small split in his right quad, and he is expected to remain at the Cleveland Clinic to be treated and monitored. The good news is that he's expected to make a full recovery. This locks Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller in as the starting frontcourt for the remainder of the season. Thompson is averaging 10.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.7 blocks as the starting power forward, while Zeller is averaging 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as the starting center.
