Pistons president Joe Dumars said he's spoken to Phil Jackson "one or two" times since Jackson left Detroit after agreeing to serve as a short-term consultant.
Jackson agreed to help the Pistons on their search for a new coach as a favor to Pistons owner Tom Gores, who is a personal friend of Jackson's. The Pistons have reportedly interviewed Nate McMillan and Rockets assistant J.B. Bickerstaff for the opening. Detroit is also interested in Maurice Cheeks, Lindsey Hunter, Mike Budenholzer, Brian Shaw and Darrell Walker.

Maurice Cheeks will interview with the Pistons on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Cheeks was reported to be on the Pistons radar and now he'll get an interview. At this point, there is no clear frontrunner to land the job.

Maurice Cheeks is reportedly on the Pistons' radar in their search for a new head coach.
It's not clear if, how or when Cheeks' name popped up on Detroit's list, but he's another candidate we can throw into the ring. Other known candidates include Nate McMillan, Lindsey Hunter, Mike Budenholzer, J.B. Bickerstaff, Brian Shaw and Darrell Walker.

Contrary to a previous report, Nate McMillan is still believed to be the frontrunner for the Pistons head coaching vacancy.
There are conflicting reports, but McMillan has been mentioned as the frontrunner for some time and we doubt that's changed after a few interviews. It's entirely possible the Pistons don't hire McMillan, but it appears there is still strong interest in the former head coach.

Jason Maxiell is "hanging in there" after having surgery to repair a detached retina.
Maxiell will not play again this season and has "likely" played his final game with the Pistons. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and Detroit is set to enter next season with a front line of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
