Mavs president Donnie Nelson said he'd "love to have" unrestricted free agent Jason Terry back.
It's unclear if Terry fits into the Mavs' plans this offseason. Although he's spent the last eight seasons with Dallas, he'll be 35 in September and Nelson is expected to make a big splash in free agency. "You would love to have him back. It's just, at what cost?" Nelson said.

Jason Terry is aware that the Mavericks aim to rebuild their roster this summer, and he's prepared to move on as a free agent.
"Look at what we've accomplished here," said Terry. "To leave that all behind, that's tough." It's not guaranteed that he'll sign elsewhere, but the aging SG is looking for one more big payday while the Mavs are focused on landing a "big fish" in free agency.

Jason Terry will start at SG for the Mavericks on Saturday, moving Delonte West to the bench.
The Mavericks are facing elimination and a possible first-round sweep, so Rick Carlisle is looking to spark his team's offense by making JET a starter.

Jason Terry returned from a game off to score 11 points with five rebounds, five assists, and a three in 26 minutes off the bench on Thursday against the Hawks.
The Mavs sort-of tried to win this game, but the only starter to exceed 30 minutes was Roddy Beaubois (13 points, five boards, six assists, one block, one three). Dirk Nowitzki scored 22 points, Delonte West had just three points and three boards, Shawn Marion scored four points with eight boards, and Vince Carter scored just six points with a pair of steals. The Mavs get the Thunder in a rematch from last year's playoffs.
