Metta World Peace is owed $15 million over the next two seasons, and could be a target for the Lakers' amnesty clause.
MWP struggled early in the season, sparking talk of amnesty, but he returned to form in April and May, having lost significant weight since training camp ("20 to 30 pounds," according to his agent). His contract isn't horrendous, but the Lakers simply don't have salary-cap flexibility in 2012-13, as they'll spend $63 million on just three players (Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum).
May 23 - 3:28 PM
Metta World Peace said he thinks the Lakers should still be playing in the playoffs right now.
Metta showed he still has a little of Crazy Ron-Ron in him by saying, "We underachieved. We're the best team in the NBA and lost in five. We should still be playing, up 3-2." The Thunder thoroughly dominated the Lakers from start to finish in this series, no matter what Metta says.

Dave McMenamin on Twitter
Returning from a seven-game suspension on Saturday, Metta World Peace was a hawk defensively and chipped in 15 points, four 3-pointers, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in a dramatic Game 7 victory.
Mike Brown described MWP's defense as "absolutely freaking amazing," which about sums it up. He befuddled Danilo Gallinari (1-of-9 FGs) and helped pester Andre Miller into a 1-of-10 shooting night. The Lakers fly to OKC for Game 1 on Monday, where Metta World Peace's elbow to James Harden will surely earn him a warm welcome.
May 13 - 1:48 AM
Lakers head coach Mike Brown has said that Metta World Peace will start Sunday's Game 7 matchup against the Nuggets.
World Peace will move into the starting lineup for Matt Barnes, and the Lakers hope that World Peace's energy will give them a spark that was missing in their Game 6 blowout loss.
