Tyson Chandler, the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year, landed on the league's All-Defensive Second Team.
Yes, we think it's rather odd also. Joining Chandler are Rajon Rondo, Kobe Bryant, Luol Deng and Kevin Garnett. Bryant's placement on this list continues to raise eyebrows (as it has for the last 2-3 seasons), and we would have liked to see someone like Andre Iguodala be acknowledged instead.

Tyson Chandler said he will not need offseason surgery on his left hand.
In the middle of the season, Chandler's wrist really appeared to be an issue and he talked about it almost daily. But those worries eventually subsided and the Defensive Player of the Year ended up missing just four games. Chandler has some wear on his body, but he won't be 30 until October. His 11.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 67.9 percent shooting were major fantasy assets this past season.

Tyson Chandler (flu) said he's "almost" 100 percent healthy.
"I feel a lot better," he said. "I feel like myself now. Being home helps being in the comfort of my own bed.'' Chandler will have to deliver in a big way the rest of this series for New York to have any chance of taking down Miami.

Tyson Chandler has officially been named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season.
Opponents shot 52 percent against the Knicks this season when Chandler was not on the floor -- when he was playing, that plummeted to 44 percent. Upon winning the award, he was quoted as saying, "For those of you who didn't vote for me hopefully I'll prove you wrong next season." Serge Iblocka was second in voting, followed by Dwight Howard, LeBron James and Kevin Garnett.

Jeremy Lin's agent, Roger Montgomery, said "we don't have any assurances" when asked about his client's free agency.
Lin, a restricted free agent, is expected to return to the Knicks. Montgomery is simply posturing here in an attempt to drive up Lin's value on the open market and get an interested team to offer a sizable offer sheet. The Raptors, along with a handful of other teams, will have interest in Lin, but the Knicks are expected to retain him. Lin was a marketing dream and played solid basketball when healthy for New York.

Free agent Baron Davis underwent right knee surgery Thursday.
Davis, 33, is now facing 12 months of rehab after tearing his ACL, MCL and patella tendon. He's also dealt with back woes, weight problems and declining effectiveness over the last few seasons. Davis' NBA career is in jeopardy.
